Greetings!!
I’m Monique
Registered /Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist
Integrative & Functional Nutritionist
Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics
Certified Leap Therapist
ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist
Whatever your health concerns or sports performance goals, I develop personalized, targeted nutrition programs to help you achieve a higher level of health, well-being, and peak performance. I create food and supplement plans that translate and apply the science of evidence-based nutrition principles for health and performance.
My Practice
Since starting my private practice in 1992, I have developed a number of diverse areas of specialization for athletic performance and health conditions, and often combine the two.
One of my passions is working with athletes of any level. I work with professional athletes, age-group competitors, high school and collegiate athletes, and have worked with Olympic athletes. I myself have participated in endurance sports and have completed nine Ironman 70.3 events.
Additionally, I am also passionate about supporting individuals with diverse health concerns, specializing in women’s health, the eating disorder spectrum, gastrointestinal disorders, and autoimmune conditions. I also incorporate MRT food sensitivity testing and Spectracell micronutrient testing, as well as other lab work to address and manage many of these issues effectively.
When I started my private practice in 1992 I wanted to collaborate with motivated individuals who care about their health and performance by providing comprehensive, high-level nutrition services. My goal has always been to make a positive impact by preventing disease, improving health conditions, and enhancing athletic performance with food strategies and appropriate supplementation.
Background, Experience, and Credentials
With over 35 years of experience, I am an expert Dietitian/Nutritionist in translating evidence-based nutrition principles for special population groups. This is done through the creation of personalized nutrition plans, education program development, impacting all channels of sport team structures, presentations and seminars, menu development, and book and magazine writing. I am a nationally recognized sports dietitian/nutritionist and experienced integrative and functional dietitian with a strong clinical background. Often I combine my expertise of clinical nutrition and sports nutrition to help athletes manage health concerns and improve their athletic performance.
Sports Nutrition Background and Credentials
While I regularly work with athletes competing at all levels and in any sport, my clients appreciate knowing that I have extensive sports nutrition experience working with top-level athletes. Leading to the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, I was a member of the Performance Enhancement Team for USA Triathlon, USA Cycling (Women’s Road Team), and Synchro Swimming USA. Additionally I worked with Team Type 1- a men’s professional cycling team, the Timex Multisport Team, the Chicago Fire Soccer Team First Team and Academy, the Saturn Cycling Team, and the Volvo-Cannondale Mountain Bike Team. Also, I was a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Ironman, for the nutrition module for the IM Coaching certification.
Many current clients include beginner to elite runners, triathletes, cyclists, and swimmers, as well as team sports athletes competing at the high school, collegiate, and age-grouper level. For several years, I served on the Medical Advisory Board of the Chicago Area Runners Association.

My Approach
One-on-one nutrition consultations begin with a comprehensive assessment that examines your concerns, challenges, preferences, lifestyle, goals, and health history, and of course training program if you are an athlete.
Individual programs are provided in person at the Evanston, IL office location, and can also be delivered via video tele-consulting. I guide and teach clients to become independent in adopting personalized nutrition plans that support their lifestyle and health related goals. My personalized nutrition programs provide the latest research based nutrition advice, presented in the form of clear and practical guidelines. Implemented over time, these programs support lifestyle change, and provide long-term and effective results.
When appropriate and requested, I am collaborative and can communicate with any health care professional on your team: Physician, Therapist, etc.

Fun Facts
I bet you didn’t know:
I have finished 9 Ironman 70.3 races. The one thing that you can’t control on the big day is the weather.
From June to September I swim in Lake Michigan in the early morning, several days weekly. The early morning wake-up is rewarding. See the photo to the right. I prefer the flat days. It is a wonderful way to start the day.
I have written 3 other sports nutrition books besides Sports Nutrition for Endurance Athletes.
I attended the Tour DuPont twice with the Saturn Cycling Team and worked the Feed Zone for the cyclists.
I am a foodie. I enjoy cooking. I love Asian food when eating out. Daily regulars are tea and dark chocolate.
I especially enjoy exercising outdoors; particularly cycling and running when not swimming in Lake Michigan.
